Red wool Doll's cloak

$ 85.00
This garment was made after a full scale version from the 18th century. Cloaks like this were popular for decades, and worn for warmth from at least the mid 18th to early 19th centuries in America, and probably longer in rural areas. They allowed the clothing and person of a fashionably dressed woman to be protected from cold and rain/snow.

Cut as a full half circle, without any shaping for the shoulders, it is simple and functional. The lovely red color, combined with a lining of silk taffeta are both period features, as is the large "hook & eye" metal fastener at the center front at the neck.
Modeled by Jane, a 14" tall doll with relatively small head, it fits perfectly. If you need one for a doll with a typically larger head, please send measurements (height and circumference) and we'll make one that will fit. If your doll is much shorter or taller, we can also adjust the length for better coverage. Period practice probably resulted in a one-size-fits-most attitude with this sort of garment.
