Pair of green tufted serge squabs
Even slender cushions such as these added color and comfort to un-upholstered furniture during the 17th and 18th centuries. We make these historically accurate, feather filled reproductions in a variety of sizes and colors. These are made from handwoven, vegetable dyed green wool serge. Made from fabric dyed after weaving, they reveal that the yarn used did not have uniform dye affinity. The effect of random subtle stripes makes them look much older than they are. Trimmed simply with period style tufts on both side, they are understated and exquisite at the same time.
