Dutch Fleurs Cotton Chintz
A fine quality reproduction of the sort of imitation Indian Chintzes that were made in Europe during the 18th century. European manufacturers were highly motivated to improve their technology in order to copy these fashionable goods and the results were splendid. As you can see in the photos, the colors of this reproduction cotton print are very close to their period counterparts--clear and strong without the harsh qualities that many modern colors can possess. The quality of the printing is equally excellent and the firmly woven smooth ground fabric make this material an outstanding copy of a textile document. During the 18th century, prints like this were fashionable for clothing, as well as furnishings such as bed hangings, window curtains, whole cloth quilts, etc.
