Blue & White Crewel Pocket Instructions
This product consists of the digital instructions to make this eighteenth century style women's pocket.
Worked entirely in shades of blue and white, it is a delightful example of classic design and workmanship. Some of the period details may be unfamiliar to you, but step-by-step instructions and stitch diagrams will guide you through the process of creating your own heirloom. Typical of period work, in which only a few stitches are used, this project provides the modern needlewoman an opportunity to create a beautiful piece of embroidery from the past.
This downloadable digital file compliments the Blue & White Crewel Pocket Materials Kit, also available in our store, which contains everything you need to work and construct the embroidered pocket: indigo-dyed worsted wool crewel yarn, linen fabric marked with design, linen backing fabric, binding material and a suitable embroidery needle.
The completed pocket measures approximately 17”x 11” and is suitable to wear as an article of reproduction clothing – to re-enact a period during which women’s clothing rarely had integral pockets, or simply as an attractive, convenient place to transport or store your current handwork project.
