Irishstitch Balloon Seat Upholstery
Needlework upholstery is colorful, durable and adds lively interest to a room setting. Polychrome irish stitch patterns such as this one were popular during the eighteenth century as a decorative alternatives to chairs upholstered with woolens such moreen or harrateen. They were made by affluent housewives as well as professional embroiderers -- the making of a full set at home often involved the work of numerous pairs of female hands.

Overall size of needlework: W23" x D18" x 17" between rails is our standard size. Sometimes we have a couple of these on hand. We often make needlework seat coverings to order, either in large or small sets, or as custom upholstery for a single chair. Allow about 4 weeks for each chair seat.
