Vegetable Dyed Color

Vegetable dyed color is a foundation of my work. For centuries, color was defined by the vibrant palette existing in nature. From early in my career, I have studied and practiced the art of using an array of colors that originate in plants. Although they are undeniably gorgeous, their beauty is certainly surpassed by their compatibility. Just as the hues of flowers in a cottage garden never “clash” with one another, vegetable dyed colors can be combined with abandon. In the many centuries before the advent of well lit rooms, the vivid colors of dyed textiles surrounded their owners with a lively “warmth”. The color we see in surviving artifacts merely hint at their former splendor.
