Doll's white cotton under petticoats

$ 26.00
Simple under petticoats add fullness to skirts of the 18th century. We make doll's under petticoats tie in the back only, while our pleated over petticoats tie first in the front, then back. Because of this feature, they have no side openings, requiring pockets to be worn on top, rather than beneath them. Entirely sewn by hand, finishing conforms to period sewing methods.

This miniature garment will fit a doll approximately 12" tall. Of course, for a petticoat, the important measurement is that of waist to just above the ankle, in this case, just over 5 inches long. The model shown in the photo is a vintage doll made by Fred Laughon like those sold in Williamsburg for many years. Another petticoat worn over this one would assure the propriety of complete ankle coverage.

Even though dolls have been played with by children since the beginning of time, child safety regulations of our time suggests that our dolls and their clothing have enough small parts to render them unsuitable for children less than 9 years old.
