Blue & White Crewel Pocket
Tie-on pockets like these were necessary to the eighteenth & early nineteenth century women’s wardrobe during a time when their clothes rarely had sewn-in pockets. This single pocket is made of linen fabric, embroidered with a typical 18th century design in worsted crewel yarn dyed in shades of blue with natural indigo and trimmed with blue and white checkered tape. The reverse is plain creamy white linen.
